Saturday

July 31st.  I have been so busy with so many new things around here!

We sold our WGS on Thursday, I hate to see them go, but we spent too much on them not to breed them and we just don't have the time.  I feel good knowing that they went to a nice breeder and family.  I have lots of chickens now!  My Barred Rock flock had gotten down to only 10- 6 pullets and 4 Cockerels.  2 weeks ago we bought 20 laying hens, mostly RIR and a few mixed Barred Rocks.  I have been getting about a dozen eggs a day-hoping when it cools off I will get more.  I am selling eggs for $1.50 a dozen and seem to be selling them pretty well.

I am still babysitting the girls on Fridays- yesterday was a trying day.  I might start babysitting a little girl same age as Sophia full time this fall-we will see.  I hope I get it because that would mean an extra $360 a month or so.  It would cover our new car payment...oh yeah we bought a 2003 Ford Escape at the beginning of July...will talk about that in a bit.

The new car... We bought it at Jimmy Mitchel Motors in Aurora.  They gave us 2500 for our explorer as a trade in which was a super good deal.  The Escape only has 62,000 miles on it which is excellent since it is already 7 years old!  On July 18th we dicided to go to Grove, OK to Har-Ber Villiage for our anniversary.  On our way home just outside of Mount Vernon-the transmission went out. C-R-A-P!!!! We called a tow truck and had to towed to the dealership (thankfully we weren't very far away!)  Well they did give us a 3 month/3,000 mile warranty with a $100 deductible. THANK GOD!  Finally on the thursday of that week we got a loaner car...a 2010 Ford Focus--pretty but not practical for a family! More like a teeny bopper car.  But it did get really good gas milage-around 30 mpg.  Well they ended up having to order parts...Just got it finished last Thursday, got the Escape back yesterday morning bright and early.  I looked at the bill...it would have cost us $2500 to fix it. Shit. so glad it was under warranty.  We haven't even made a car payment yet.

Sophia now has 4 teeth- two bottom and her 2 top eye teeth.  She has been super fussy the past few days, hoping she will get some teeth in soon.  She goes for her 15 month check up on tuesday.  Cooper has been grouchy this week, but I think it has a lot to do with Chris not coming in until after he goes to bed-= Cooper not seeing him but a few minutes a day.

Can't believe Cooper will be 3 in 22 days.  Doesn't seem possible!

We have a tractor pull this evening- the kids are staying with my mom.  I think it is just too hot for them to be outside.

I twisted my knee yesterday and am in so much pain everytime I move.

The flies won't leave me alone!  They keep landing on me-so tired of it.

.................momhood..............rant.................

Tis a Beautiful day in the ozarks! wish I could be outside to enjoy it.  I have so much school work to finish up this week.  My head is killing me.  Cooper is super whiny. and I am letting stupid little things get to me.

I am not a text book mom and I like it that way. But more and more I discover there may be few of us out there.  It seems that everyone has an answer, a link, a book recomendation for me to read to come "up to date on today's parenting" what if I don't care?  My parent's just did what they thought was right, and I think I turned out okay.  and Who really knows the "right" way?  Is there a right way?  Every child is different and some people just don't realize that for some reason.

I know some people think I am old fashioned in my parenting and other things I believe in, but truthfully it is what works for us and I don't care what others think.  I don't understand why people are so judgemental of certain parenting skills.  It is not like I am using drugs and leaving my kids to fend for themselves.- people need to choose their judgements more carefully.  I think there are far worse people to worry about, wish people would stop wasting their time judging me.

I love my life so butt out.  I think I am a good mom, a strict mom I know-but still a good mom.  My kids are well behaved and I like it that way.  My kids are not the ones you see running around the grocery store unattended and screaming.  If my kids get loud- we leave and they get punished in the car.  whatever.

My dad makes me so mad sometimes.  He doesn't always realize that we have lives too.  I get that he is retired and he thinks everything is a slow pace these days, but when it involves my husband. argh.  He and Chris went to deliver 7 calves to my grandpa's house 4 hours ago!  They supposedly were dumping them and coming right back...Chris and I had some plans today to work on the yard and other things.  BUT no, we probably aren't going to get anything finished today, because they have to sit around and talk all damn day long.  Chris never says anything, doesn't want to make his FIL mad or anything, and respects him that much...but ohhhh men just don't think sometimes.!

procrastination-

So overwhelmed today.

I have to get my Missouri Constitution paper finished before tonight.  I need to work on my court cases paper, and my HUGE English Comp paper.  My nephew, Jake, is in the hospital once again.  I was up at Cox until 11:30 last night- didn't get home until 12:30am!

I have so much on my mind, and none of it is what should be.  I can't stop thinking about our hopes and dreams and after watching Food Inc. I want to get started on our greenhouses sooner than ever.  We hope to make it where I will be able to work at home.  We would like to raise strawberries and tomatos in the high tunnel greenhouses.  We think we only have about 6-7 roosters so when we get the coop built we will probably buy some fryers from Cackle Hatchery in Lebanon.  I hope to be able to set up a farmer's market type operation.  Selling eggs daily, tomatoes and strawberries (when no one else has them available) and we hope to plant about 5 acres in corn next summer.  I am thinking about also making bread and cakes to sell.  I really like to make bread, and angel food cakes.  I figure I can make the angel foods if or when eggs aren't selling great- it takes about 16 egg whites to make and frost an angel food.  I can't wait to get done with school-but I have about 2 years left.  I want to finish my accounting degree but I also want to take a few greenhouse management classes, a class on pesticides, and some other classes.

My plan right now is to do the greenhouse thing- and once the kids are in school I will substitute teach as well.  I think I will be able to make enough money from both incomes to make a profit.  I know the greenhouses will be a lot of work, but I am willing, especially since it is something that I am passionate about.  I want my kids to eat healthy and have healthy lives.  I don't want them to think McDonald's is appropiate for everyday consumption.  I want to cook meals for them daily, and show them responsibilty.  I hope that my kids don't turn out lazy.  When they are older they will not be allowed to watch TV in the middle of the day, unless it is bad weather or they are sick.  I want them to go outside and enjoy God's creation.

I have so much I want to say- my wheels are just constantly turning.  We may be living a technology world but, I want my kids to understand hardwork and live a lot like I did when I was raised.  I think too much of a good thing is never good.  Computers are great, but a person shouldn't sit at one all day long.  I hope my kids will understand and share our love for the enviroment.  We are not what I would call "green" people, but we live within our means.  We don't compost- I still don't technically know what the point is... I use disposable diapers, we have trash service, we use pesticides, we drive diesels, etc BUT we try to do some good things- so I hope what we do, do helps some.

Monday

I just registered for my fall classes!  I am taking a refresher in Algebra, ENG 102, Bus 140, and Economics 270-  I can't believe I am already registered for fall!

We had a pretty good weekend- Saturday I went to the city-wide garage sale in Bolivar and got Sophia some really cute clothes for really cheap!  Then we went to Weaubleau and visited with Chris' grandparents.  Sunday we really didn't do anything.  I worked on homework and Chris and I made some plans for the future.

Friday night I made turkey burgers-YUM! and sweet potato fries- very good- will be making them both again.

The chicks are growing so fast!  We think we have around 20 hens or so which is great.  Once Chris gets the Chicken coop built we are thinking about buying some more fryers and maybe some Red Star Sex Link pullets.

whew wee

It has been a stressful week.

Chris went to Kansas on Thursday and got back at 1am on Sunday morning- I think they had a great time.  The Chickies are getting bigger.  I have so much homework that I am overwhelmed.

This morning I cooked a whole chicken in the oven all by myself! so proud.  I also made key-lime bars (from a mix) but they look really good!

we got the rest of the garden planted, and some of it has already started to come up-so excited about that!

I start babysitting again on Friday.  It is only from 1-4 and Fridays only.  2 girls- Katie age 4 and she is autistic-so that might be a challenge and Kenzie is the same age as Cooper- so that will be helpful!

only 3 more weeks left of school- and then I will have summer break- can'[t wait.!
