Just One More Soul

Just One More Soul
Rodey Griffin

page 210 of Mulls Number 7

The prechers are weary the singers are tired
The Church as we know it is losing its fire
And some are discouraged from bearing the load
But we must determine to keep pressing on.

'Cause if just one more soul were to walk down the aisle
It would be worth every struggle it would be worth every mile
A lifetime of labor is still worth it all
If it rescues just one more soul!

So preachers keep preachin' and singers go sing
And laymen keep sharing that Jesus is King
The angels have gathered they're surrounding the throne
And they'dd start rejoicing for just one more soul.

'Cause if just one more soul were to walk down the aisle
It would be worth every struggle it would be worth every milke
A lifetime of labor is still worth it all
If it rescues just one more soul!

Baby Muscovies!

Just the thing I needed today! Really!  First time I had smiled in a few days.  Tonight when I was out doing chores I saw a flash of yellow by the chicken coop...well I knew I had a muscovy sitting on some eggs under the coop!  We have at least 2 very fluffy, very bright yellow muscovy ducklings.  I don't know if there are anymore or not.  I tried to get a pic with my phone-will have to upload later.  It makes me so excited to see natural born babies!!!

eeeeekkkkk!

This has got to be the worst week ever.

I just want to run away.

The kids are driving me nuts and I have tried everything. They just Don't. Care. At. All.  Things taken away, time-outs, chores, etc. nothing works.  even tried rewards. ugh. nothing works.  They get into everything and RUIN everything.  I can't have anything for myself anymore-not anything.  I never get a break, not even in the evenings or on the weekends now since Chris runs over to mom and dad's house to work on the combine or the baler or the tractor or whatever.  No one works non-stop for weeks and weeks and doesn't go crazy.  I am always the one that gets up at night.  Chris gets up in the morning and drives his little dumpy truck around and then comes home to gripe at me because the house is a mess.  Does he really think that I enjoy living in this messy house?  My house looks like some of the houses on hoarders- and I can't do anything about it!  I am constantly picking things up just to find them right there again.  I can't hardly walk in my room for all the toys and trash from the kids.  Dishes are piled up. All of the floors need mopped and not just spot mopped.  Windows need to be washed.  Cooper's room needs to be vaccumed and cleaned really well.  the pantry needs to have shleves put up.  The yard needs mowed but I can't leave the kids in the house by themselves.  I have pink fingernail polish all over my WHITE chesterdrawers...I have a gash in my kitchen lineoleum from Cooper throwing a fit.  I have zero bowls and very glasses because they all get broke.  the bathroom is constantly wet.  Sophia peed in the chair 3 times yesterday.  She WILL not pee in the potty but she will be everywhere else.  She screams if you even mention potty or diaper.  She pooped in the floor twice yesterday.  I can't keep clean towels in this house because they are always used to clean up messes.

In the evening I can't cook supper because the kids get into things when I am in the kitchen.  Chris is never home for supper.  doesn't come home until dark or later.  It is REALLY hard to get the chores done with out a kid screaming/crying or whining.

I can't even take them out into public without the screaming and fighting.  They do not listen to me. EVER and when they do they cry. then I want to cry

I cried the most I have cried in a long time last night. hours and hours of tears.

sigh. I just want to run away.  At least for a weekend.

Mostly Pictures

Well it has been an EVENTFUL weekend! WOW!! Last night a MAJOR tornado ripped through Joplin and some of the surrounding communities.  It touched down in the center of town and ripped right through.
There are many more pictures all over Facebook and on news websites. It is so tearjerking and heartbreaking. I don't personally know anyone down there (that I know of) but my heart goes out to all of them. Prayers are definetly with them today as they access all the damage. As of this morning 89 people had died. God Rest their Souls. They still are find people in the rubble.
 Some pics from that:
Home Depot or what is left of it
Walmart
Truck Stop

St. Johns Hospital

Before all this happened we had a good day.  We went to Schofield and put out flowers on some graves and then we went down to Avery and Breshears Valley where Grandma DeHart is from. I took alot of pictures.

I also took some pics of Half Way before we left.

I also took pics of head stones, but I won't post all of those...there are a lot of them! lol  I plan on getting pics of all the headstones that I can to add them to our family tree.  I think it is a nice way to remember our ancestors.  I do want to post my grandfather's headstone.  My dad and my aunt designed it.  I think it is really neat.

So the other day I canned some:

I canned Cabage soup, Strawberry jam, and a Cajun flavored 15 bean soup.

Saturday we processed our chickens and I canned 4 pints of breasts, froze the rest.  I am making stock today from 7 carcasses and some veggies.  Will can it later.

The automatic chicken plucker worked really well.

Thankful Thursday

In a forum I used to frequent we would have Thankful Thursday so I thought I would do it today on my blog.

Today I am thankful for 2 beautiful healthy children that amaze me more and more each and every day.

I am thankful for a loving husband that works full time so I can stay at home with the kids.

I am thankful for the rain we have had and the sunshine-it really helps my gardens grow.

I am thankful for great friends and family that really do care.

I am thankful for my church family, even though I am not sure right now where our church home is.

And most of all I am thankful for my salvation.  I hope someday my kids and my husband will be able to say the same thing.

Moving on...

We had 13 ducklings hatch all together- only 1 died.  I now have 48 eggs in the incubator and Chris is stopping on the way home to pick up another incubator for the turkey and pheasant eggs we ordered!  The turkey eggs got here yesterday and the pheasant eggs came today.  The turkey eggs are Royal Palms:

I think they are beautiful!  I recieved 9 eggs in great condition shipped all the way from Texas!  I have yet to go pick up the pheasant eggs but I can't wait!  I ordered 12+ Ringneck Pheasants.

Yesterday I also got another package...my brand new pressure canner!! Today I am making cabbage Soup and will be canning it.  It is simmering on the stove now.

will post pics later...

Hatching!!

We are in mid hatch of baby ducks!!  Started pipping on Thursday and they started hatching Saturday.  So far we have 8...10 more to go!!

A few pics of the early birds that are already in a brooder...pics are kind of fuzzy...

We had quite the surprise this morning when we looked into the incubator and saw one yellow fuzzy duckling...all yellow!  I called the people we got them from and they think it is probably a pekin!!  I don't care I love all ducks but when it grows up we may have to find it a mate!

So far they all are doing great! there is nothing to compare watching a duckling/chick hatch! It is so amazing!

On friday the kids and I trekked over to Lebanon area and picked up 2 turkeys! They are about 4 months old and a pair.  They are Blue Slates---and we only paid $25!! The lady just didn't want turkeys anymore she was going more towards peahens.  At Cackle a Blue Slate 1 day old poult is $7.90 so I think I did a great deal!

Still hatching so I will check back in later with better pics!

Monday, May 9

It is a scorcher and it is only May 9th!

Wow it is so hot today!  The temperature is already at 89 degrees and it is only 2pm!  Crazy missouri Weather!

Yesterday was Mother's Day and we all went to Bennet Springs State Park.  It was a fun day and the kids had a blast. Sophia really took up with Papa...nothing sweeter than watching my 2 year old run ahead only to grab Papa's finger and stroll along with Papa.  Seeing that made my Mother's Day.

Stupid me and the rest of my sisters for got our cameras...I only had my phone to take pics  took a couple.

We have been planting garden and only a few more things to plant.  My first efforts didn't turn out so well ( I tried to start some plants on the backporch...) I just didn't pay enough attention to them. oh well.  We now have:
15 Tomato Plants
4 Bell Pepper Plants
4 Hungarian Hot Pepper Plants
3 Cabbage plants
3 rows of Potatoes (1 Row is volunteer!)
1/2 row of lettuce 1/2 row carrots
1 row peas
2 rows beans
5 rows sweet corn
1 row okra
3 rows cucumbers
2 rows peanuts (short rows)
1 row zuchini
1 row birdhouse gourds
1 row sunflowers
3 Watermelon plants and 1 row of watermelon seeds

Still need to plant:
Pumpkins
Ornamental Corn
Giant Sunflowers

We already have twice the garden space this year than we have ever had...and I still feel like we need to plant more! lol  I just don't want to have to buy much food this winter and I would like to sell some produce (planning on selling cucumbers at least and hopefully some corn)

In other Farm news...Our Big Momma Rabbit that we bought last... this one:

well she had BABIES!  I couldn't believe it.  I went out to check on them last wednesday and she was making a NEST...so I moved her bunnies out and made her comfortable.  On Friday morning when I went out to feed her nest box was full fo fur and had several babies in it.  I don't know for sure how many babies are in there...haven't got them all out to count but there are quite a few in there!  Most of them will be white but 1 of them is black.  What a deal we bought a momma rabbit with 6 babies for $27.50 not knowing she was already bred back! I stick my hand in the box daily to make sure they are all still moving around.  I worry about them in this heat, but I am keeping them cool so far.  We hooked up a box fan for the shed and they all have full water bottles.  I need to get some floor tiles to freeze and put in their cages.  We bought another buck last week from a lady that had them listed on CL...when we got there I realized that it was one of my old bosses...the only person who has ever FIRED me from a job! ugh! I so don't like her! but whatever.  That was 6 years ago lol.  I don't think she remembered my name, but i think she reconized me.

Iris the broody EE is no longer taking care of chicks...she was down to only 2 chicks so we bought her some new chicks...she didn't like them.  So now one of our silkies is taking care of all of the chicks.  Some pics of them:

yes there is a duckling in that pic! Chris couldn't resist! lol!!

We will soon have lots of duck babies on the farm too...the incubator is due May the 17th with 20 mallard babies all developing great.  I candled a few nights ago and could actually see them moving around.  It was almost the same feeling for me when I first saw my own babies moving around on ultrasound!! Crazy I know. lol

Also we have at least 2 broody muscovies right now...and maybe at least 1 more.  One is under the feed room, one is under the chicken coop and 1 is starting to make a nest in the corner of the garage...haven't checked today if she is sitting yet or not.  Crazy stuff!

Shawn at Chris' work gave us a Rouen drake...he is so BEAUTIFUL!  I wish I had some more of them.  The little duckling we bought is a rouen but don't know if it is a boy or a girl...

This picture does not do this animal justice on how pretty he really is!
